Argentina already has its own carbon balance calculation manual for the wheat chain
The Argentine Carbon Neutral Program (PACN) carried out the presentation of the Sectoral Manual for the Calculation of the Carbon Balance and the Sectorial Manual of Good Environmental Practices of the Wheat Table, which were developed by a group of technicians from INTA and INTI.

The Sector Manual for Carbon Balance Calculation, which was presented at a virtual event in which more than 120 leaders from the agribusiness sector participated, is aligned with ISO 14067 based on a local life cycle analysis validated by the companies and member associations of the PACN.

The manual has open calculators that allow each link in the chain, from the "cradle" to the port of departure in Argentina, to easily calculate its carbon balance in line with the international standard.

The Manual of Good Environmental Practices, as a management guide, includes the life cycle analysis of the calculation manual and on it lists practices that have a positive impact on the reduction of the carbon balance, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals ( ODS) and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standard as an impact measurement tool.

Both tools are the result of a collaborative approach by witness and validating companies representative of all the productive links within the PACN Wheat Table ecosystem.

The availability of the manuals to the different actors in the chain is free, upon express request to the PACN Secretariat, with the aim of achieving a uniform implementation at the national level and their subsequent individual certification by the companies and certifying organizations registered in the program. Against said certification, individuals may request balance “seal 2” and/or carbon neutrality “seal 3” of the program.

The Wheat Table of the PACN is made up of ArgenTrigo, Basf, Bioceres, Cereal Exporters Center, Ceres Tolvas, Argentine Federation of the Milling Industry, Grupo Los Grobo, Hórreos del Sudeste, La Bragadense, Molinos Fénix, Molinos Tassara, Profertil, Syngenta and Yara. → bichosdecampo.com
