To deepen its insertion in the seed business, Los Grobo launches its first wheat with its own brand
The agro-industrial firm Los Grobo continues to grow in the seed business. Two years ago it launched its first corn hybrid, the Grobo 1923 BTRG, and now it is the turn of wheat.

Although it can already be obtained through the company's extensive commercial network, on May 6 the company will officially launch its first own-brand wheat called Grobo Limay through its Maúa digital platform.

As explained by the company, with this initiative they seek to be closer to producers with a varied and quality offer that is added to their wide portfolio of products and services. The firm does not seek to be a competitor of the large seed companies, but rather to strengthen its own brand and expand the reach of its commercial and technical advisory team, which have daily contact with the producers.

A key fact to keep in mind is that Los Grobo is one of the largest multipliers in Argentina, and even in recent years it has converted its business strategy towards the sale of inputs for agriculture. Currently, it markets soybeans, wheat, barley and corn, and has 34 branches that allow it to reach the agricultural producer directly.

Grobo Limay wheat has a long cycle and a high productivity approach. "We are targeting a long-cycle variety that currently has the highest productivity in Argentina. This type of variety allows a wide planting area to be covered. That is, from the coast of the province of Buenos Aires, passing through Balcarce to Tres Arroyos. Then, in areas where there is less cold requirement, it allows us to increase the sale of crops and expand the agricultural frontier reaching the west of Buenos Aires, the south of Santa Fe and the south of Córdoba”, explained in dialogue with Bichos de Campo Guiillermo Alonso, responsible for seeds from the Los Grobo Group.

Meanwhile, Martin Sackmann, manager of Innovation and Development of the company, said that this time they will go to market with some 12,000 bags of wheat that have already had a very good impact among producers.

“The plan is to continue growing not only in wheat and corn, but later other crops or products can be added. We also offer professional seed treatment for wheat in our plants and that is a plus for our commercial network. We want to be attentive to capture all the needs and opportunities that the market presents”, he explained.

As a balance of what were the first two years of Grobo 1923 BTRG corn, the company details that during the first year 6,000 bags were marketed and in the second year 10,000. "We are very satisfied with the landing of our first corn hybrid, we even exceeded the volumes that we had proposed to market. That is why we are now expanding the offer towards wheat. Taking into account also that we are the main wheat multiplier in Argentina and then we have what to go out on the field with. Also offering a professional seed treatment that can be done in our plants or the producer is also offered the possibility to do it in his field. At the moment we offer seed treatment with traditional fungicides, but in the future we want to add biological ones as well," said Sackmann. → bichosdecampo.com
